Academic Resource Center
For academic support, students are encouraged to visit the ARC, a hub supporting students at all skill levels, in all stages of their undergraduate careers. The ARC offers: Tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, Study Skills Workshops, and Peer-Mentoring. UCR Library
We are here to help! The UCR Library website provides access to many resources, including UC Library Search, Databases, and Getting Started With… Subject Guides. For individualized help with choosing a topic, finding sources, or developing your search strategy, use our 24/7 live chat with a librarian, visit the Rivera or Orbach Library support desks, or schedule a library research help session. Sessions are available in person, on Zoom, by phone, or through email.

ITS Help and Student Technology Support
ITS provides essential tech support for students, including free software via itopia, $7 print credit per quarter for Wēpa kiosks, 24-hour laptop checkouts, and longer-term device loans through the Loan2Learn program. Students can also access four open-access computer labs located in Watkins Hall, Arts, and INTN buildings, equipped with academic software and hardware to support coursework.

The Buscadores (Searchers) Program
The Buscadores (Searchers) Program assists all students applying to graduate school, medical school, law school, and other professional (and prestigious) opportunities. Experienced University Writing Program faculty guide students searching for future career opportunities that require advanced degrees by teaching the “hidden” curriculum of application essays. We provide equitable and inclusive opportunities for success through a series of workshops, writing labs, and 1:1 faculty mentoring focused on all forms of the application essay.

The Pre-Professional Advising Center
The Pre-Professional Advising Center provides information, advising, and support for students who aspire to graduate/professional programs in health and law professions and wish to enhance their academic and extracurricular preparation. Professional staff and peer mentors are available to guide students as they plan their pre-professional coursework, health-related experiences, service work, and research in preparation for applying to programs.

The Center for Undergraduate Research and Engaged Learning
The Center for Undergraduate Research and Engaged Learning seeks to enrich the quality of the UCR undergraduate academic experience through high-impact experiential programs. As a unit of Undergraduate Education, Center for Undergraduate Research and Engaged Learning's role is to innovate and scale programs focused on leadership, fellowships and national awards, undergraduate research, community service and engaged learning, capital internships, and other strategic initiatives for the benefit of student experiences.

Office of Student Life
The UCR Office of Student Life is the central hub for student engagement, offering programs and resources that promote leadership, community involvement, and personal growth. Located in the Highlander Union Building, it supports over 500 student organizations, including cultural groups and fraternities, and provides services such as Highlander Orientation, first-year mentorship, leadership workshops, and volunteer opportunities through the Volunteer Center. The office also organizes major campus events like Block Party and Homecoming, assists commuters, encourages voter participation, and fosters Highlander pride through traditions and campus spirit initiatives. Its mission is to help students prepare, enjoy, inform, and involve themselves in campus life, ensuring an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.

Resident Services
The Resident Services Office (RSO) helps communicate about the campus community, the facilities available to you on campus, and the surrounding areas, as well as maps and directions about the locations of particular buildings and services. They offer move-in and move-out information, equipment checkout, mail distribution, parking access, and respond to maintenance and housekeeping requests.

Dining
The Dining Services website provides information about where to eat on campus. There are two residential dining locations on campus as well as several locations to order or pick up meals or snacks. This is also where you would sign up for dining plans, or order catering for your student organizations.

Associated Students Program Board
The Associated Students Program Board (ASPB) at University of California, Riverside is a student-run organization dedicated to enriching campus life by hosting a variety of free events—such as concerts, films, lectures and special gatherings—for undergraduate students. Their core mission is captured in the tagline “Enjoy • Enhance • Entertain,” reflecting their aim to provide engaging, inclusive and accessible programming throughout the academic year. The board emphasizes community engagement and student involvement, offering avenues to volunteer and participate, and ensuring that their events are welcoming to all, with accommodations available upon request.

First Generation
UC Riverside’s First Generation initiative is designed to uplift students who are the first in their families to earn a four year degree by creating a strong sense of community and offering guidance throughout their academic journey. The program provides mentoring, skill building workshops, faculty engagement opportunities, and connections to key campus resources that support academic success, personal wellbeing, and career preparation. It aims to celebrate first generation identity, reduce barriers that students may face, and ensure they have the tools, relationships, and confidence needed to thrive at the university.

Chicano Student Programs
UC Riverside’s Chicano Student Programs (CSP) offers a welcoming, family-like space for Chicano/Latino students and anyone interested in Latinx culture, providing academic support, cultural events, mentorship, and advocacy. The office runs programs like the Chicano Link peer mentoring, a textbook lending library, and leadership opportunities through student organizations. CSP hosts cultural celebrations (such as Día de los Muertos and Semana de la Mujer), supports outreach with conferences and community engagement, and helps students grow socially, academically, and personally. It also connects students to resources like counseling, graduate school prep, and financial assistance, while promoting a campus-wide understanding of Chicano and Latino histories and identities.

Asian Pacific Student Programs
UC Riverside’s Asian Pacific Student Programs (APSP) is a student resource center that cultivates a vibrant and supportive community for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AAPI) students. It offers a wide range of programs — such as peer mentoring, cultural events like Lunar New Year and AAPI Heritage Month, workshops, roundtables, and a speaker series — all built around the values of leadership, consciousness, and belonging. APSP also provides opportunities to get involved in student-led organizations, paid coordinator roles, and campus partnerships so students can grow socially, academically, and professionally. Located in 244 Costo Hall, the office is a place to hang out, learn, and build connections.

Native American Student Programs
UC Riverside’s Native American Student Programs (NASP) is a supportive, culturally rooted center that serves American Indian and Indigenous students by offering academic, social, and personal resources. It organizes mentorship, tutoring, wellness assistance, and access to cultural events like the annual Pow Wow, Medicine Ways conference, and drum circles. NASP also provides outreach through programs like the Gathering of the Tribes for younger students and helps link students with scholarships, internships, and peer mentors via its Intertribal Connect program. The office also plays a key role in educating the wider campus community about Native issues and supporting Native-led student organizations.

Undocumented Student Programs
UC Riverside’s Undocumented Student Programs (USP) provides vital support for undocumented and immigration-impacted students, including those with DACA, TPS, SIJS, or asylum status. The office offers academic advising, financial aid guidance, and legal and community referrals. USP maintains a lending library for textbooks and calculators, offers scholarships like the R’Dream Book Grant, and supports leadership through Undocu Ally training. It also runs fellowship-style programs like the Butterfly Project, helps students access internships and grad school preparation, and guides participation in “study away” programs.

African Student Programs
UC Riverside’s African Student Programs (ASP) is a long-standing Black resource center that supports students of African descent (and allies) through mentorship, academic advising, leadership development, and culturally rooted programming. It offers events like Black History Month celebrations, a summer bridge program for incoming Black students, and a Black graduation ceremony, as well as opportunities for community building and social justice engagement. The center also houses the Dorothy Vaughan Computer Lab, provides leadership training, and connects students with internships, alumni, and external networks.

Middle Eastern Student Center
UC Riverside’s Middle Eastern Student Center (MESC) is a dedicated space for students interested in the Southwest Asian, North African (SWANA), and Muslim experience, offering a supportive community grounded in education and cultural exchange. It provides programs like weekly discussion groups (MESCafé), leadership development, internships, and support for the Markaz Living-Learning Community in housing. MESC also advises over 20 student organizations, funds student conferences, and hosts events to raise awareness about Middle Eastern histories, identities, and social issues — all with the goal of promoting inclusion, dispelling stereotypes, and building meaningful dialogue.

Veterans Resource Center
UC Riverside’s Veterans Resource Center (VRC) is a dedicated hub for student veterans, military-connected students, spouses, and dependents, offering academic advising, peer mentoring, career services, and help navigating VA benefits. The center provides a welcoming space (125 Costo Hall) where students can study, access computers and printing, grab snacks, and connect with other veterans. It also runs a career-development program called Operation VETS and supports the Student Veterans Organization in organizing social and networking events.

Case Management (Crisis)
Case management is UCR’s primary resource navigator on-campus. They provide non-clinical, professional, case management services to the UCR community. Our staff helps students to prioritize needs, problem solve, navigate complex university processes, discuss options, develop strategies, and refer students to on- and off-campus resources. Additionally, they provide support for Respondents who are involved in Title IX Investigations., consult and support faculty and staff with their concerns about distressed and distressing students.

The Well (Health Promotion and Education)
The Well is UCR’s health promotion and education department and provides Highlanders with training, resources, skill building opportunities, and programming for a variety of topics including mental health, substance use, sexual health, physical activity, nutrition, and general well-being by professional and certified peer health educators. Through The Well’s Grab N Go service, students can grab FREE health-promoting supplies on-demand. In addition, peer health coaching, online training and assessments are available to all UCR students for FREE. The Well integrates health promotion through campus-wide policies, outreach, marketing campaigns, collaborations, and events.

SWIFT (Crisis)
Coming Soon! Student Well-being, Intervention, and Follow-up Team (SWIFT) is a newly created department focused on mental health crisis response and intervention. SWIFT will consist of licensed clinicians who will respond with Campus Safety Responders (non-sworn unarmed safety professionals) to support Highlanders in crisis. SWIFT will provide on-campus mobile crisis response and mental health support after hours.
Note: SWIFT is not an ambulance or emergency service.

SHS is your campus stop for your medical and health care needs. They offer on-campus primary care, lab, pharmacy, and psychiatric services, as well as manage the UC Student Health Insurance Plan (UC SHIP). Through them you can fill prescriptions, get referrals for off-campus specialists, and attend health-related workshops and events!

Basic Needs
If you or someone you know are in need of food or housing support, you can find help at the Basic Needs office. Once connected, you may be eligible for money to buy groceries, apply for economic relief through the ECRT program, or get help with housing resources by meeting with our housing specialist. If you are in need of immediate food assistance, please visit the R'Pantry in-person (3rd Floor, Hub) or online at basicneeds.ucr.edu/rpantry. The website provides up-to-date information about the R’Pantry schedule on Facebook and Instagram, as well as appointments.

UC Riverside’s Career Center helps students and alumni prepare for and navigate their professional journeys. It offers services such as one‑on‑one career counseling, resume and interview prep, and assessments to help clarify your goals. The Center hosts career fairs and on‑campus interviews (through Handshake), and provides workshops on job search, networking, and professional development. There are also specialized programs for first‑generation students, veterans, and undocumented students, plus access to online learning tools like LinkedIn Learning.

Excel+ Career Readiness and Leadership Program
UC Riverside’s EXCEL+ Career Readiness & Leadership program helps undergraduates turn their campus involvement — from student orgs to research or extracurriculars — into marketable professional skills. Participants build competencies like communication, teamwork, leadership, critical thinking, and equity & inclusion, earning digital badges that can be displayed on LinkedIn or their resumes. The program also offers workshops, a Slack community, and access to LinkedIn Learning, and qualifying students may get funding for underpaid internships.

Capital Internships (UC Sacramento or DC)
UCR’s Engage: Center for Undergraduate Research & Engaged Learning offers a valuable internship program through the UC Centers in Sacramento (UCCS) and Washington, D.C. (UCDC), where students can earn academic credit and gain career-ready experience. Internships last around 10 weeks (during summer, fall, winter, or spring), and provide professional growth through real-world work tied to faculty and site‑supervisors. The program is open to all majors (including arts and STEM), and supports a range of students, including transfer, international, undocumented, and DACA students.
