Program Overview
Unlock Your Inner Innovator with the Chancellor's Research Fellowship!
Hey First-Years! Have you ever wondered how groundbreaking discoveries are made, or how incredible creative projects come to life? If you're a student who's curious, eager to learn, and ready to dive deep into a subject you're passionate about, then the Chancellor's Research Fellowship (CRF) might be exactly what you're looking for. This isn't just another award; it's a super competitive program that gives undergraduate students like you the amazing opportunity to work side-by-side with a UCR faculty member on their research or creative projects. Imagine getting to contribute to real-world science, explore new artistic frontiers, or tackle complex social issues – all while still in college!
What makes the CRF so special? Well, it's designed to give you a true taste of what it's like to be a researcher or a professional artist. You'll be working directly with a faculty mentor who will guide you, share their expertise, and help you develop critical skills. This hands-on experience is invaluable, whether you're thinking about graduate school, a career in research, or simply want to gain a deeper understanding of your chosen field. And the best part? It's open to students in all disciplines. So, whether you're passionate about biology, history, engineering, English, art, or anything in between, there's a place for you to explore and contribute.
Let's talk about the perks! The Chancellor's Research Fellowship comes with a generous $5,750 award. A big chunk of that, $5,000, is a stipend for full-time research during the summer. This means you can dedicate yourself fully to your project without worrying as much about finding a summer job, allowing you to immerse yourself in your research or creative work. The remaining $750 is specifically for research expenses, which can help cover costs like materials, software, or travel related to your project. Keep in mind that this is a highly sought-after opportunity – only 14 students are accepted each year, making it a truly prestigious accomplishment to add to your resume. If you're ready to push your boundaries and contribute to exciting new knowledge, the CRF could be your ticket!
