Appointment of Victorino Moreira as inaugural Black Student Success Coordinator in Undergraduate Education

Colleagues,

Victor

I am delighted to announce that Victorino Moreira, a senior academic advisor in the CHASS Multidisciplinary Advising Unit, is joining Undergraduate Education as our inaugural Black Student Success Coordinator.

For nearly two decades, Victor has been an engaged and trusted member of the UC Riverside community as an undergraduate, active alum, and professional academic advisor. In 2007, he graduated from UCR with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology. As a member of our Black Alumni Chapter, he has consulted with UCR staff and faculty to create new and innovative professional exploration support for Black students.  After completing an M.A. in Higher Education (emphasis on Counseling) from University of Redlands, Victor began his advising career in the CNAS Undergraduate Academic Advising Center in 2013; he joined the CHASS Multidisciplinary Advising Unit in 2015.  Throughout his professional advising career he has established and maintained collaborative working relationships with UCR’s African Student Programs, the Black Alumni Chapter, Undergraduate Admissions, and academic advisors across our various colleges and schools. Since 2019 he has served as UCR Black Faculty and Staff Association Vice Chair and Chair. He was recently appointed Interim Program Director of the Blue, Gold, and Black Mentorship Program designed to enhance the UCR Black student experience and bolster 4-year graduation rates.

Victor will be a fantastic addition to UE and I know that the leadership team is excited about his appointment. Please join me in welcoming Victor to his new role.

Sincerely,
