UE Launches Global Issues Forum

Riverside, Ca –

In conjunction with Provost Paul D'Anieri and UCR's award-winning Model UN Club, UE will be launching a Global Issues Forum (GIF) in Fall. As UCR becomes a more international institution, sending and receiving international visitors, UE has decided to contribute to undergraduates' knowledge about current events and issues in the world. Among the topics that GIF is considering for programs next year are the following: What Happened to the Arab Spring? Will the European Union Survive; and South Africa 20 Years after Mandela. The faculty and staff advisory committee includes Professors Jana Grittersova (Political Science), Perry Link (Comparative Languages and Literatures), Yolanda Moses (Anthropology), and Susan Ossman (Global Studies). Beth Thrush will coordinate the program with students from the Model UN Club.
