In the Fall 2013 issue of The Key Reporter (Phi Beta Kappa's Publication for News and Alumni Relations), UCR undergraduate student Chris Sanchez interviewed Vice Provost Steven Brint to discuss the economic recession and future of higher education.

The October 2013 issue of Sociology of Education (Volume 86, Issue 4) featured a reprint of Vice Provost Brint's essay, "The 'Collective Mind' at Work: A Decade in the Life of U.S. Sociology of Education", along with editorial comment and several scholarly responses to Brint's essay.

Finally, Assistant Vice Provost Christine Victorino co-authored an article entitled "Campus Racial Climate: A Litmus Test for Faculty Satisfaction at Four-Year Colleges and Universities" in The Journal of Higher Education (Volume 84, November/December 2013).
