UCR has a proud history of supporting first-generation students or those who neither parent has completed a 4-year degree. At UCR, first-generation students comprise 58% of new and continuing students - compared to only 34% nationally. At UCR, we see our first-generation students as challenge-seekers, independent, proud, and ambitious. At UCR First-Generation students are the norm and we wish to celebrate their achievements.

As part of a new program at UCR, with the support of the University of California Office of the President (UCOP), the goal is to increase visibility of First-Generation faculty, staff, and students.
