Required Work Site Specific Plan Launched
While remote learning, teaching, and working remains the default mode of operation, there are some essential functions approved to continue working on campus at this time. The recently updated state requirements mandates that each department or operation with employees working on campus (or campus owned/lease space) for any length of time, including intermittent visits, must complete a work site specific plan (WSSP) prior to returning to campus or continuing working on campus. This requirement will be in place until all pandemic restrictions have been removed.
The plan template must be used when requesting approval to return to campus for work, either as an individual department, research lab, or campus unit. Individual departments who continued to work on campus or have been approved through other campus workgroups should contact the Operations and Support Recovery Workgroup before preparing a new plan.
This centralized Work Site Specific Plan form and process has been designed to 1) reduce public health exposure, 2) ensure compliance with all related regulatory requirements and 3) create a campus wide database of approved locations and activities.

To ensure timely response and to satisfy CDPH (California Department of Public Health) and CalOSHA requirements, we ask that supervisors/department heads who currently have employees on campus send their completed plans to ehspublichealth@ucr.edu by November 13, 2020. We appreciate those who have already submitted their forms and were able to meet a specific deadline related to research ramp up. For research areas that have recently submitted the worksite specific plan, please disregard this email.
If your department does not intend to return to campus in the near future, this deadline will not apply.
However, departments will need to submit their plan for approval prior to their return to campus whether for occasional, short term or significant return. Signatures of all workers who have been authorized to return to campus must also be submitted. Office of Emergency Management, EH&S and Space Management will review the plans to ensure alignment with the Return to Campus guidance and EH&S will work with each plan owner to address any gaps.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the Operations and Support Recovery Workgroup at ehspublichealth@ucr.edu or contact the EH&S main line at (951) 827-5528 to be routed appropriately.
